Mario received his degree in Biochemistry from the Universidad de La Plata, Argentina (2000). His PhD thesis was also accomplished at the University of La Plata (2003). He performed a post-doctoral training at Dr. Nillni’s lab at the Division of Endocrinology, Brown University/Rhode Island Hospital, USA (2004-2008). Then, he performed another post-doctoral training at Dr. Zigman’s lab at the Division of Hypothalamic Research, University of Texas/Southwestern Medical Center, USA (2008-2010). In 2010, Mario obtained a permanent position as Researcher of CONICET and returned to IMBICE, where he initiated the Neurophysiology group. From 2020 to 2025, he held the position of Director of the IMBICE. Currently, Mario is Principal Investigator of CONICET and an internationally recognized researcher in the field of ghrelin.
